I loved this article! Makes me want to hop on the next flight out of here. Of course we can apply your premise to whoever and wherever we are.
More than once I’ve heard you say that Americans are less happy than the people and places you have discovered in you travels. I have absolutely no idea but would love to hear more. This is not the time or place for that discussion. I look forward to hearing more next time we get together. :)
Oh, it's a deal! We'll share a nice meal one day soon. (It's possible that I'M happier overseas, so I'm projecting. I dunno.) And thanks! You're so sweet.
I love this post! And it is so true. Whenever things turn a little sour in our travels, I am reminded of a quote from The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, “Everything will be all right in the end... if it's not all right then it's not yet the end.”
Another wonderful piece! I was thinking that one thing I really appreciate about travel - especially in foreign countries - is that it forces you to be PRESENT. When I'm in a new place, I become much more attentive; there's no room for auto-pilot. I'm ferociously studying maps & signage, trying to remember landmarks for guidance, and taking in all of the sights/sounds/smells/wonder/weirdness as I navigate my way around. It can be exhilarating and exhausting...and I feel alive!

Thanks! And that is a wonderful quote from a wonderful movie. :-)
This was a great read - and really resonated with me. I'll happily read more of your blog now!
Appreciate that, Kath! I'm so glad.
I think this was my favorite of your blogs! It’s the serendipity 💕
Exactly! That's the perfect word for it. And thanks! You made my day...
