Enjoyed reading. Even shared with my hubby. We also do many of the same things. Some of our family & friends wonder how we afford the traveling we do. It’s the priorities in how we spend our retirement money. Please share your Seattle lawyer.

Eight years ago, before nomading, I assumed all travel was "vacation" and "holiday" travel, but now I understand is much different than that -- and much cheaper too!

Brilliant! Learned several new things, I thought I was pretty savvy. Living on $1200 a month in Southern California, one need to be frugal.

One thing I don’t do enough is ask for senior discounts and there are lots. But to get them, you usually will need to ask.

Thanks!!

Is that possible?? Good for you!

Yes, getting to close to being eligible for those discounts. Thanks for the reminder!

Virginia, I would love to know the area of SoCal where one can live on a modest income like yours. Congratulations! I hope you can reply!

I really enjoyed this one! I am a big saver, but as I've gotten busier and busier with work, I've outsourced more. This is a good reminder to re-check that balance.

Thank you!

It's fine to pay for convenience, but yes, one should always know what you're paying for -- and even then, observe some things closely.

Hear hear to tracking finances! I worked in that industry for years and it was striking how the people who knew where their money was going invariably had saved more and had finances in better shape. This was notwithstanding their income levels; I had clients making $600k/year who didn't have two nickels to rub together and couples making $50k who were in great shape.

I've also tracked all our spending for a couple of decades and found dozens of errors from various vendors over the years. For me, it takes ~1 hour per month to manage Quicken and it's totally worth it!

5 hours a month is a liberal estimate, probably. But yes, I'm shocked by all the errors I find (and I'm shocked by how so much money goes to waste).

Hi, I just found this publication of yours. This is a great post with useful advice. 👍 As a person who travels full-time, managing your money and being aware of costs is vitally important.

I write a publication with my spouse (we are two women) quite similar to yours, we are just driving mainly in Africa atm with our 4x4, but of course, some of the basic principals are pretty much the same.

I am trying to reach more people with my content through recommendations from other writers on Substack. And since our content are both travel related, I think your readers could also benefit of some posts we’ve made. So, if you’d be up for it, a recommendation would be amazing, and no worries if not : )

Looking forward to your reply & cheers from Malawi atm,

Piritta & Niina

Hello! Thanks for the nice words. Just subscribed. We don't recommend anyone we don't follow regularly, but we'll give it a read. Very cool that you folks are in Africa. Hopefully we'll be there next year....

I love this. This is how I handle money. I actually find it meaningful and fun. And if one doesn't want to save money to help themself, how about saving money so it can help others? (That savings can be passed on, in a will, to make a real difference in this world.)
