Aww, I really enjoy Port Townsend. We're in Tacoma and have gone up the past few years for the THING festival. I really want to hit up the wooden boat building festival next!

OH! Port Townsend!!!! Luck you! I got to go to PT twice a year for 15 years when I taught in Goddard's MFA program. Fort Worden was our residency campus. I LOVE that town and miss it so. The college pulled out early in the pandemic, and I quit teaching. I wish I had the time to take you up on your rental offer!

Oh, I love Fort Worden. So interesting! And the other two forts (and Indian and Whidbey Islands) are interesting too. So great they're all parks now.

Beautiful place. I can certainly understand your appreciation for that "permanent" home. One thing I've noticed about nomads is they eventually find a way to buy and build a based camp. Some place they can be sure is available to them without hassles and it's ALL THEIRS to do with what they want.

I suppose everyone settles down eventually. But honestly, owning something seems like the option with the hassles. I love never having to deal with anything -- and, more importantly, never having to pay for repairs/maintenance.

Port Townsend is lovely, yes.

As a former Seattleite (5 years in the mid 70's) I always thought Port Townsend was just the best small town around the peninsula. Evidently it still is, and I envy you guys getting to spend time there.

I've been dreaming about a place like this. Near. Possibly wheelchair accessible. Hideaway (and pretend I'm working on my next book. Secure. Restaurant (I haven't cooked since I pubbed A Three-Turtle Summer). What a dream! If this doesn't work, maybe some place nearby?

The units are not wheelchair accessible (that I know of -- most of the ones I've seen have steps and multiple levels). But the area would be a great place to write!
