We met at a time and a place where I’d never know your dad. Thank you for sharing him with us today. You’re right he may not have been perfect but he sure was special. Beautifully written. Somehow made me happy and sad at the same time. You know… like life.

I'm so sorry, Brent. This was a fabulous eulogy, and I instantly love your dad. He sounds like a model of how to be a great parent and just a great human in general.

Normally I don't read eulogies as they are usually self serving and to be blunt, boring. Your eulogy for your father was heart felt and interesting. Karen (wife) and I are semi-nomadic, traveling 8-9 months a year and will be in SE Asia Sept 23-> Apr 24 and hope our paths across.
Your father's legacy is a beautiful mosaic of love, growth, and genuine humanity. Thank you for sharing these personal and intimate moments that highlight the extraordinary within the ordinary.
Wishing you strength and solace as you carry forward the lessons and memories your father has left you with. Your tribute reminds us all to value the whole picture of the people we care about, even the not-so-perfect parts.
What a great eulogy to your dad. It made me tear up because I did a eulogy very similar about my dad 10 years ago. We are so blessed to have had these great men raise us. My blessings to you in your sorrow.
Even at the age they were - they’re open acceptance of what went on in our lives was so meaningful, and they showed us how much they loved us by every day of their loving support. Xo
You spoke a moving tribute to your father in your eulogy at his funeral. I hope you know you are one of his finest achievements. Take care and, just to let you know, "The Order of the Poison Oak" and "Split Screen" are now part of my catalogue of unread books.
I started to cry and kept crying right at "And by the way, I love you.” May the cat be waiting in the tree wherever he is.

I hope you are doing OK

That's one of the most heartfelt eulogies I've ever read or heard. Great job--and you made all your readers love your dad, too.
Tears flowing. This is how you write a eulogy.
Thank you for making me cry the very best kind of tears this morning…. And for sharing your wonderful father with all of us.

This was so beautiful - thank you for sharing your Dad with us.
Good lord. As someone who is very close to her own father, who has told stories about his early childhood resistance of prejudice, just 😭 😭 😭
