Just found your page. I'm glad not getting a publisher didn't prevent you from pursuing writing and documenting your journey. Is your memoir interspersed within the Substack pages here?
Happy Birthday, BMAGP! Such a great achievement. I'm not if I've shared this but I actually came across your Substack a few years ago, prior to my wife and I's own nomadic and sabbatical year of travel. It was fun to read about all your adventures, but was also a great source of inspiration for our own trip. I even said to my wife: 'Hey these are the kinds of people we could meet while we are nomading, how cool is that?!' I know, I'm such a dork! Anyway, just thought I'd share that with you. Despite the whole dork thing.
Congratulations! Your newsletter is a highlight in my inbox. You are amazing writer's with the gift of gab and provide valuable information. Thank you.
I love reading about your adventures. Your experience turned us onto house/pet sitting which we do several times a year now. Keep up the great work and travel well!
Perhaps you should write a book about two intrepid Substack travel writers who infiltrate the mysterious world of, well, something. Then plot twist, plot twist, sexy yet tenderly romantic scene, plot twist, car chase, car chase, helicopter chase, gratuitous sex scene, plot twist, and a shocking ending!
There you go, it's practically written. In fact, I'm going to have to insist on a cowriting credit.
I've always gotten a lot of "OMG I LOVE THIS...but here's why I can't buy it.." from editors, but it was more than usual than this one. Also, the two old white guys didn't help.
Congratulations for following your dream! In my opinion, it’s been a success because of perfect balance of honesty, awe, and positive attitude! And also because you seem to very much appreciate the readers who have paid to engage with your work! You’ve given me so much interesting travel reading! 💚😻
It’s very refreshing in a world in which everyone seems to have a contentious opinion. Your writing is never argumentative. It interesting to read both sides of an idea that you present! 💚😻
I’m so grateful for the content you create and the connection I feel to your travels. Things I’ve never thought of and frankly, some I never want to experience, are still interesting to read about. Thank you for all you do and the care that you put into every facet of your communication.
I loved reading about the roots of your Substack. I, too, have recently made the decision to stop pursuing traditional publishing and bring my many projects over here. There is an audience eager to read our work. What a blessing to have this platform to get it out to them. Thanks for the inspiration.
Happy belated birthday! You both have been authentic and engaging with your readers. Looking forward to more! :)
Gracias!
Thank you! 😍

Indeed! A number of articles are basically chapters we rewrote for the newsletter. Let me see if I can find the links and post them for you.

Oh, I didn't realize you knew us *before* your own trips. How fun! I'm glad we didn't scare your wife away completely.
(I agree with Michael. Dorks are awesome.)
That's the dorkiest thing I've heard all month. And by dorky, I mean AWESOME! BECAUSE DORKS ARE AWESOME!

Did you install Spyware on my laptop?! I just sent an alarmingly similar outline to my agent.
I've always gotten a lot of "OMG I LOVE THIS...but here's why I can't buy it.." from editors, but it was more than usual than this one. Also, the two old white guys didn't help.
Classic. Can't wait to hear them lamenting how they passed on this mega-bestseller.
No, but I just took a screenshot of this comment ...
Entrapped! Again...
Hmm, now I'm wondering if I should've pre-ordered your supposed thriller.🧐🧐🧐😁😁😁
It's thrillingly disappointing, to be sure.
Thank you, man! Means a lot.

Congratulations on three awesome years! Excited to read your continuing adventures.
Here's hoping we give you a tenth of the pleasure you've given me over the past few years.
Sweet talker :-)
Hey, I warned you that when I fanboy, I fanboy hard.
But I'm really working on that whole stalker-vibe thing. BTW, that dinner you and Dave had last night looked AMAZING!
If you're going to spy on dinner, you could at least help wash the dishes after.
And just like that, Michael ceased being a stalker!
Thank you, Melissa! Michael is also a big fan of yours.
