The first few times I, an East Coaster, happened to go to Seattle, it was sunny every time, and you could see the mountain. I told my spouse (who had lived there for years before we met) how pretty it was, and how I would be open to moving there.
He practically *hissed* at me.
"I didn't see the sky for months! My shoes molded in the closet! My car flooded!"
Yes, Seattle is too expensive and it rains all the time (allegedly) and it has a homeless problem and a "socialist" gov't that will defend your right to be whoever you are, any skin color, whatever gender, marry whomever, follow any religion, come from any nation and law enforcement at all levels in Washington State are forbidden from giving aid to ICE.
Your story telling has become exceptional! And because my love of flowers and my previous life time as a bee I loved , “It looked like someone had tossed colorful confetti all over the city.”
I was in Seattle a day and a night in 1983, while traveling the country. Visited Jimi Hendrix's gravesite, saw a great jazz combo in a cobblestone section. Pretty city, despite raining the entire time, and all the way into eastern Oregon. But I wish your voting 92 percent could be here in suburban SW Ohio.
I've visited Seattle only once in late May and I enjoyed doing the typical tourist things, but I would not want to live there. Friends we visited kept pointing to heavy cloud covers in various regions of the city saying "On a clear day you can see Mount Rainier perfectly from here." Trouble was, during the 5 days we spent in Seattle, the clouds never lifted. Our friends also said Seattle doesn't get any more rain than the average in most places in the Midwest (where we live). May be true, inch-wise, but it seems in Seattle it rains just a little bit nearly every day of the year. I'll take my rainfall in larger portions on fewer days, like we get in the Midwest.
Aww. Seattle's loss. It is a beautiful city. I was there for only a couple of days in 1968, so I don't know how it is now, but the sun was shining and it smelled good and the Space Needle was pretty amazing.
It only took me 33 years to love Seattle. I hibernated nine months every year, until I realized that it's beautiful any time. Of course it's nice today, so it's a cheap opinion.
Two of my kids have lived in the Seattle area for 25 years. After visiting them many times, I've concluded that Seattle is a beautiful city that sucks.
We so nearly ended up moving to Seattle instead of LA in 2000 and though we never regretted our choice for a moment Seattle never failed to put on its very best face every time we visited there
Reminds me of a favorite quote of dad’s : you can dress him up but you can’t take him out to dinner. Seattle put on its finest but y’all didn’t take the bait.
It sounds like your love affair with Seattle is MUCH stronger than mine with Orange Co, CA. After 40 years living there I have no interest in returning g or living there, even with the amazing beaches, mountains, and beautiful people. I can find comparable in many of my (new) favorite countries.

We did not move.
“He practically hissed at me.” You just made me spit out my coffee! That’s brilliant!

Seattle also has orcas.
It definitely has it’s pros!

Thank you!

Maybe we could send a few over your way!

That’s funny because I often hear people say “But when I visited Seattle it was clear the whole time!”
And you are right about the rainfall. Ours falls as mist over a much longer period — which I don’t love.

It certainly has its upsides!
This reflects my feelings, as well. I adore Seattle but the “baggage” is a lot to live with.

And I loved it for thirty years until the weather finnaly drove me nuts!

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wonder if Amsterdam is going to pull that trick on me this summer. I will be prepared!
Have your guard up!

That’s because it’s still trying to lure you into its clutches!
Difficult from London but still!
Never rained a single time there in more than a dozen visits in all four seasons!
So, completely unrelated question, what stocks are you invested in? Because I clearly need to be doing whatever you do. LOL LOL
🐻👀

Or as my grandfather used to say, “Close, but no cigar!”
Which, now that I think about it, really makes no sense….
Nice. Washington State tries to hold its own

It does sound that way!
As fellow ex-Seattlites, it’s also the gray drizzle from Oct to May that we definitely don’t miss!! 😜
It’s easy to be seduced by visiting during May thru September!!
100%!
Yeah, some really great things about that town, but not enough to live there again.
I get it!
