You guys are truly the best. What a terrific guide this was! We swore we’d never do a cruise again (me especially after reading Cabin Fever), but now I’m changing my mind! What a fabulous experience this would be.

Well I didn't think I'd be adding a cruise to Alaska to my list today!

I'll be going on an Alaskan cruise July 2024 with family and I'm so excited. I can't wait! Thanks for all this information. I'm saving this newsletter for reference and can't wait to read part 2. Thanks again.

Cruise ships seem like traveling in a Reno hotel with fans of Reno hotels.

Haha you're not wrong except Reno hotels don't go to quite as cool places lol

Never been on one, but as soon as we start thinking it might be worth a try, we envision Circus Circus and run.

I've been to Circus Circus and I don't find it like that at all. Maybe carnival might be, but not Princess or Holland America.

I certainly don't mean to be... well, mean. Your travels are often brilliant. But I felt this was a cop-out, Brent. There are ways to avoid the metal leviathans. Living in BC we see a LOT of cruise-ships and the destruction that goes with them. So it gets wearying.

I love you guys so much. And am always touched by your kindness and caring about all the world. I am sure a cruise to Alaska is awesome for all the reasons you say. And I don’t want to rain on that but I feel like more info is always better. As an introvert I feel for these whales in this article. This was reported in many places, not just the guardian but I’m going to link this here in case you didn’t see it. Keep writing and sharing! You guys always make me so happy! https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-58032702

Maybe you've never lived in a town that cruise ship passengers visit.

Hi Jimmie, No, I haven't ever lived in a town like that. But I was a flight attendant with Alaska Airlines for twenty years and spent many a happy time in Sitka, Juneau, and Ketchikan.

I totally get how you personally would resent cruise ships descending on Sitka and that there is a negative impact for you. But there are positive impacts for others. The world is a complicated place and I think all of us take actions that negatively impact others. Perhaps your life is set up so that isn't true, which is great.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
