We're Off to Pennsylvania for the Filming of PROJECT SWEET LIFE (Based on Brent's Novel and Screenplay)
Back in 2007, I wrote a YA novel called Project Sweet Life. Now it’s becoming a movie, and I wrote the screenplay.
Here’s the movie’s story:
Project Sweet Life (Family/Caper): When three teen friends are forced by their parents to get summer jobs, they decide to invent fake jobs, then embark on a series of get-rich-quick schemes to make the money they should be earning. But the “sweet life” proves much more difficult than anticipated.
I wrote previously about the interesting behind-the-scenes journey the book and screenplay traveled to become a movie.
Now it’s all set to begin filming, this June in Pennsylvania.
And Michael and I going to be there! Technically, as the screenwriter, my job is done. The script is written, and it’s now the job of the director, producer, and actors to turn the words I wrote into an actual movie.
But come on! I wanna see how it goes. And who knows? Maybe I’ll be able to offer my opinion on things here and there.
Speaking of actors, here are the three main leads. At one point, I said to the director, “Part of the point of this story is that they are young. They’re right at the moment when kids are on the verge of becoming adults. So please don’t cast twenty-six year-old actors and pretend they look like teenagers.”
And he didn’t! They look like actual teenagers.
So these are the characters who have been living inside my head for the last six years that I’ve been working on this screenplay. Now I finally get to see what they look like in person.
Hello, Curtis, Hannah, and Dave!
(Interestingly, the POV character is Dave, and he is the most like me, and he kind of looks like me at that age, even though he isn’t described in the script. Weird, huh?)
