Brent and Every Cat in the World: A Love Story
Cats! They’re the same the world over.
The other constant is Brent’s need to pet and cuddle every single cat we encounter — no matter how mangy or rabid looking. Which means I’m constantly shouting, “BRENT, STOP TRYING TO PET THAT REVOLTING LOOKING CAT!”
Don’t believe me? Here are just a few pics of Brent cuddling cats this year. (Click on the pic to move through the gallery!)
BTW, cats may be the same the world over, but the way they’re treated is not.
Miami had a high number of feral cats, partly because of the hurricane that arrived last January, a few months before we did. There weren’t nearly as many cats, feral or otherwise, in Malta. In fact, we saw fewer pets in general, though there was one very yappy dog just down the street. The cats on Santorini and Mykonos, Greece, were fat and sleek in the Mediterranean sunshine, while cats in Bulgaria looked the worst off. Bulgaria is a poor country, so spaying and neutering of feral cats was almost non-existent. Consequently, there are loads of homeless cats living in and around dumpsters, though the locals children and old ladies fed them too.
Here are just a few of the cats we encountered this year! Brent fell in love with and petted them all.
